Most countries allow private individuals
to import cars directly from Japan, without a license, special
permission, or professional help. Since July 2005,
authorized traders can sell and ship cars out of Japan, after
obtaining for every vehicle, an Export Certificate issued
by the Transport Ministry. This certificate is a summary of
computerized data records, such as vehicle specifications, date of
registration, legal status and ownership history. Since
November 2007, the certificate additionally indicates odometer
mileage as recorded at time of mandatory technical
inspections (shaken). Stay
away from illegal sales (private owners, Yahoo auctions...), as
they must necessarily end in disappointment & failure |
